Just as autumn brings a mix of bright and muted fall colors, so does the current housing market (read my articles for this month that discuss the details). We are seeing signs of cooling, as buyers express their frustration with a limited supply of homes to buy, and sellers contemplate putting their plans on hold until the spring.

This "waiting game" isn't beneficial to either party. Home prices will continue to tick upward (albeit slower than they have in recent months) which will price out many of the buyers who chose to sideline their efforts. If sellers wait until after the first of the year, they will join thousands of other sellers who waited, giving buyers more choices, possibly leading to a lower selling price because of increased competition.
